The best way to learn filmmaking is through hands-on experience. That’s why we maximize the amount of time you spend actually working on productions. Creating and finishing multiple projects enables you to experiment, make mistakes, and gain experience in a variety of roles in a way that isn’t possible with only a single capstone project.

Work on the films you love
InFocus alumni work on everything from massive Marvel superhero films to Oscar-winning dramas to critically acclaimed TV to indie gems. Workshops with Vancouver film unions give students the inside scoop on entering the industry, networking events provide contacts and job leads, and classes on starting a production studio provide insight on how to pursue a more entrepreneurial path in Vancouver’s booming film industry. Accredited film education
The Film Production Program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.C. in regard to student protection and quality of education.
InFocus programs do not lead to regulated career pathways, as careers in the film and media industries are not subject to occupational regulation in Canada. However, graduates often go on to work for major studios, production companies, and media organizations both locally and internationally.
The fine print
Program details
1040 hours delivered over 48 instructional weeks. The program is divided into 4 terms of 12 weeks each. There is a 1-week break in between each term.
On-campus
Full-Time, Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm. Occasional weekends will be required for film shoots: approximately three weekends per term. Students can expect 1 hour of homework per hour of class.
Minimum 900 hours for graduation eligibility. Students are expected to attend all classes, arrive on-time, and stay for the duration of the class.
Students are expected to make satisfactory progress in their studies. Any student who fails two or more courses in a term must meet with the department head to discuss their academic performance. Passing grade equals 60%.
